From Maxi to Midi

My one fashion love has to be pleats... whether it be maxi or midi.

With the ever changing British weather the two are must haves for both winter and summer.

I love this Maxi skirt (rare.com £45). The way it flows is amazing, with the high waist a cropped top really goes well, in the above im wearing a white lace tee but rolled up.

The midi skirt, (Monsoon) is pretty much the exact same skirt as above but cropped (told you I was a huge fan...).

The above pic was taken on a girly trip to Prague, was great weather so a floaty skirt was perfect but nothing to short for long walks and climbing! The hat was a must - have... don't want a burnt scalp!

How do you wear your pleats?

Zalando.co.uk Fashion Frenzy!

I was trawling through the worldwide web when I came across a competition that Zalando were running... a competition right up my street!

They want bloggers and facebookers to create their prefect outfit using their website, those of you who haven't come across zalando.co.uk shoud really check them out! They sell a variety of clothes in all this seasons styles boosting a whole host of brand names!

The winning outfit wins a new wardrobe worth of clothes to the value of £3600 and there are several runner up prizes, so a very generous competition indeed!

The competition ends tomorrow so I've no had long to think of an outfit and doesn't help that there is so much choice to choose from!

I took my inspiration from trends I've seen over glpssy mags these past few weeks and from images of the recent fashion weeks, below is a mood board of ideas:

I decided to opt for an outfit that could be worn day or night and one that linked all the key trends for the following months.

My dream outfit from www.zalando.co.uk is:

This outfit is very archaic and Victorian English inspired, a theme that has been cropping up all over… from billboards to catwalks. I have a feeling the Royal Wedding this year sparked the trend to be honest- a mad flurry of blouses and pencil skirts! Our future Queen is constantly seen sporting a nice stylish midi and blouse- and rightly so because the combination is a timeless classic!

  1. The SkirtD N ASkirt £330Bye bye to the mini’s and bum skimmers, pencil skirts and midi’s are so this season… and by judging London Fashion Week they are so next season as well. My dream outfit just had to include the fashion must have of the year, however with a punky twist. The leather really does give it that edge, and again the material itself is making a sweet come back into our wardrobes.

  1. The BlouseVero ModaCARELLA - Blouse  £24I’m loving blouses and smart shirts this season, sophisticated chic never felt so good! This shirt transforms the leather skirt from punky to vintage classic. Shirts are commonly associated with masculinity however by teaming it up with the other items of clothing it really does give it that feminine touch.

  1. The BlazerDesigners Remix CollectionRAVENTUX - Blazer – £220The beauty with blazers is you can wear them day, night, formal, informal… endless. It’s perhaps the one garment that can instantly transform a chilled effortless outfit into something smart! This blazer is great as it is a grey tweed effect with black silk linking so the whole style of the blazer screams Old English- think Oliver Twist! I think combined with the leather pencil skirt and statement blouse this outfit screams volumes and oozes class.

  1. The ShoesESPRIT CollectionCHRIS - High Heels – £104.95Wow. I’m loving these boots…Firstly the colour is perfect for this outfit and really adds a certain sex appeal, but also the ankle boot style is made for autumn/winter season and kicking about those fallen leaves!

  1. The BagAbroHandbag – black £90Every girl needs a little black clutch. I think this bag compliments the outfit well as it isn’t over fussy and is keeping in line with the simplistic elegant style of the outfit… plus you really can never go wrong with a black clutch!

  1. The LipstickUslu AirlinesHAV HAVANA – Lipstick  £19.95Lastly, to finish the outfit of a coating of vibrant red lipstick that compliments the shoes but also gives the outfit that timeless feminine touch.
So there you have it! What do you think?? I'm a big fan of the masculine (shirt, leather, blazer) VS feminine (red, lipstick, tight,. heels) theme thats going on and the colour contrasting and texture differences really make it a win for me :)

Pleated Love

The trend of the summer that is (thankfully) transcedning into autumn winter is pleats. I'm a huge fan of anything pleated, be it skirts, dress or tops! I have a blog post coming up just on skirts - from midi to maxi, but thought I'd post about pleated tops.

Above is my pleated top which I bought in America from Forever 21. Forever 21 have now opened a store in London which I'm sure will boost it' popularity amongst UK shoppers, however you can still shop online at www.forever21.com/uk

I love this top becuase it is so versatile, you can wear it in the day or dressed up for night.

Multi-functional... makes us feel better when parting with our money!

The Dressing Room

The Dressing Room boutique have launched their new Autumn/ Winter collection. Some gorgeous pieces to choose from, I've compiled my dream outfit from their collection:
I'm LOVING pleated midi skirts (my new obsessions!) and teamed up with a graphic tee and some boots gives it an edge to the "cute summer" look. Who says skirts are just for summer?!?

Cabbage Time!

Cabbage is a very commonly used vegetable in Bosnia, and one of my favourite cabbage recipes is The Cabbage Parcel! You can put pretty much anything in these parcels, the recipe I'm doing is The Bacon & Feta Cabbage Parcel!

Ingrediants:
1tsp olive oil
6 pieces of unsmoked bacon
1 small squash- diced
2 carrots- diced
1 large leek
2 garlic cloves
75g of Feta Cheese
one red chilli
2tsp Dill
8 Savoy Cabbage leaves
200 ml veg stock

1. Heat the oil in a pan and cook the diced squash, carrots, bacon, leak, chilli and garlic for 30 minutes, make sure to stir regulary. If it starts to stick of brun add water to the pan!

2. Let the cooked mixture cool, and in the mean boil the Savoy Leaves for 5 minutes in salty water.

3. Stir the feta, dill, salt and pepper into the cooled mixture and then roll it out onto the Savoy Leaves and create the parcel!

4. Place the rolls in the pan, pair over the veg stock, cover and simmer for ten mins!

This is great as you can take out the bacon and have a veggie meal, and this can be the perfect accompniant to a main or served  as a starter!

Enjoy :D
